At the beginning of 2008 the C-MAR Consultants brand was formed when the Group’s existing survey business, Cushing & Associates, was amalgamated with the newly acquired business of Aquarius International Consultants Ltd. At the outset the Consultancy team consisted of three people operating from London and Dubai. In the intervening period the size of the teams in each of these locations has grown to four apiece, and C-MAR Group personnel based in both Houston and Canada also provide Consultancy services alongside their other Group roles.
The range of work the Consultancy team perform ranges from loss prevention surveys, through damage surveys, warranty surveys, marine casualty management, studies and assessments to litigation support: providing expert advice and evidence when disputes proceed to Court or Arbitration hearings.
The latest development is that we have fulfilled our plan to commence Consultancy operations in Singapore: On 17 Jun 10 Graeme Bowles joined the C-MAR Group as Managing Consultant – Singapore, and, after an induction period in London and Dubai he arrived on station in Singapore on 03 Jul 10.
Graeme Bowles is a Master Mariner who spent some 14 years at sea, primarily serving in Chemical Tankers, before commencing his career as a Marine Consultant in 1985. In the intervening 25 years he has dealt with a wide range of different problems and situations involving various ship and cargo types. He has recently been appointed to the Lloyds’ Special Casualty Representative (SCR) panel in recognition of his extensive salvage and casualty management experience in various roles following fires, collisions, groundings and similar mishaps. In addition he has particular expertise with regard to the problems associated with the handling of liquid cargoes in bulk, including chemicals and vegetable oils. He has written reports for, and given expert evidence in, litigation, arbitration and mediation proceedings in England, Scotland, The Netherlands, the USA and China.
We wish Graeme good fortune as he builds the Group’s Consultancy practice in Singapore and we hope that he, and his wife Sue, enjoy their time in Singapore.
