‘Gulf Craft LLC’, Patterson, La, USA is building 2 new aluminium DP-3 fast crew/supply catamarans for ‘SEACOR Marine’ and the C-MAR Group has been awarded the contract for FMEA Services and System Integration for both of the vessels.
The 2 new DP-3 vessels will be named the SEACOR Lynx and the SEACOR Leopard and these vessels are the product of extensive seakeeping studies to develop a design that not only improves passenger comfort, but also increases operational efficiency. The result is that the vessels will reduce motion by an average of 20 percent, with vertical acceleration reduced by 40 per cent so creating a much more comfortable journey for the 150 passengers.
Along with seating space for the 150 passengers the main passenger cabin will house a snack bar and the rear cargo deck will be able to store 150 LT of freight. The vessels have a Kongsberg DP system aboard and can reach speeds in excess of 46 knots.
The Lynx is scheduled for delivery in January 2013 and the Leopard in April 2013. The C-MAR Group’s achievement winning the contract for the FMEA’s and the System Integration is another example of our historical involvement in breaking boundaries as C-MAR was the first company to take a crew boat to DP1 notation, the first to take a crew boat to DP2 notation and we are now the first to take a crew boat to DP3 notation.
And in another success for C-MAR America we have been contracted by the ‘Thoma-sea Marine Constructors’ shipyard to conduct FMEA’s on 2 new ‘Gulf Offshore Logistics’ DP supply vessels and these vessels have been equipped with complete Rolls Royce packages with Rolls Royce providing everything from the helm to propeller nuts. C-MAR currently do all of the DP auditing work for the whole of the Gulf Offshore Logistics fleet which provides work vessels (owned and brokered) to the US Gulf exploration and production market as well as logistical support to independent oil and gas companies.
