Brazilian News

C-MAR do Brazil was founded in 2001 and has recently moved from Macae to new premises in Rio de Janeiro which, along with the relocation of the DP Centre Brazil to coincide with this, means there has been a lot of new activity in trying to develop additional business areas and to expand the brand awareness of the C-MAR Group in South America.

The new ‘Country Manager’ for Brazil is Mauricio Santos and he has been very    pro-active in trying to provide extra impetus in Brazil, both in sourcing new clients and developing relationships with current ones.

Mauricio recently had a meeting with a major offshore vessel owner to discuss the future of the DP Centre in Rio and they have proposed a partnership that will lead to 120 students from their organisation attending the Basic and Advanced DP courses in 2011. The Brazilian office is also in discussions with several other major international clients regarding providing DP training for their crew. Within the revamped training facility there will ‘state of the art’ Converteam DP systems to conduct the training on, ensuring the training is provided using the most modern DP equipment available.

On the Engineering side of the business there have been meetings recently with four major drilling contractors regarding C-MAR providing experienced Subsea Engineers and the negotiations with two of them are very advanced. In the last two years several giant new oil fields have been discovered in the deep water, sub-salt play in Brasil and Petrobras has a massive investment programme in conjunction with international partners. In the light of this strong exploration activity we are expecting demand for Subsea Engineers to continue to increase in 2011.

C-MAR is currently in the process of developing its marine arm in Brazil, which involves speaking with external experts and locally based clients, including a major drilling contractor, with whom C-MAR are in advanced negotiations with regarding providing DPO’s to their dynamically positioned rigs.

Finally, we would like to offer congratulations to the Brazilian office on the latest developments and are pleased that the outlook is so positive.
